It's Saturday...and I made the mistake of walking into Pat Catan's this afternoon for just a FEW things. But every time I walk in that store, my mind starts racing with ideas for fun projects and I start wishing I didn't have a job so that I could spend more time in my craft room and less time in the NICU! Let's just say I came out with a few more things than I originally planned. ;) Oops! Here's what I made with my unplanned purchases...
I took the back off of the frame and cleaned the glass off. I then put the clear calendar sheet facedown on the glass.
Then, I took my piece of scrapbooking paper and added embellishments and created a cute place to write the name of the month. When I was happy with my decorations, I placed the decorated paper facedown on top of the calendar sheet. I put the back of the frame on and secured it.
Custom-Made Dry-Erase Calendars
I found this really cool clear calendar sheet at Pat Catans. I don't know about you, but I LIVE by my calendars! I keep 2 of the dry-erase calendars on my refrigerator so I can keep track of the current month and plan for the upcoming month. But when I saw these clear calendar sheets, I thought it might be fun to create my own dry-erase calendar...one that will match my kitchen! So here's what I did!
1 Clear Calendar Sheet 12x12
1 12x12 Scrapbook frame
1 sheet of 12x12 paper (lighter colors work best)
Embellishments
4 strong magnets (really, really strong)
Tacky glue (or hot glue...something that will have a strong hold)
Here's what I did:
I took the back off of the frame and cleaned the glass off. I then put the clear calendar sheet facedown on the glass.

Now if you want to hang it on a wall, you can just fasten the little hanger that comes with the frame and you're done! But if you want to hang it on your fridge, grab your magnets and glue them on each of the 4 corners of the frame being careful to push them out to the edges as much as possible so you can still access the back of the frame. (You'll want to be able to change out the decorative paper to coordinate with seasons or the color of your room.) Let the magnets dry and you're done! Now if you're like me and you bought "Super Strong" magnets in the hopes that they would be strong enough to hold the frame onto the fridge and you discover they aren't strong at all, then I would suggest trying a few other things...1) Get a command adhesive hook and stick it to the side of your fridge and hang your frame on that using the hanger included with the frame or 2) If you don't mind sticking stuff to your fridge, you can attach velcro to the frame and the fridge and stick it up that way or 3) Find much stronger magnets to use. :) Use dry erase markers to write directly on the glass that came with the frame...it wipes right off! :)
The total cost of the project is around $12...less if you already have some of the supplies on hand, like the glue and paper. These would make fantastic gifts for busy moms, students, teachers, and more! :)
So there ya have it...my Saturday craft project! Now on to the next one... :)
Molly- That is so cute. You did a great job!- Teri
