For the last 2 years, I've had this eyesore in the backyard. It was basically a pile of yard trash...pine cones, grass clippings, etc. And I also had this row of strawberry plants in the midst of the trash that I desperately wanted to grow. Strawberries are my favorite summer fruit and I would absolutely love to grow my own crop instead of paying a ridiculous price at the grocery store for home-grown berries. So I called up my dad and we came up with with a plan for a raised garden for the strawberries (to cut down on bunnies eating the berries and to make the patch a little more manageable). Early on Monday morning we got to work!
Dad started by building the raised garden.
Then, we added top soil...
Once we got it all filled up and the rocks removed, we dug up the strawberries and planted them in their new home.
The next day, I planted the grass seed, threw down some straw and watered away! Then, I planted some flowers, spread a little mulch and voila! A brand new pretty, yet productive space in my backyard. No more piles of twigs, grass, leaves, and pinecones. Just a fun new strawberry patch and hopefully a soon-to-be green patch of grass!

Dad used the tiller and worked up all the ground around the new strawberry garden and I followed behind and raked it all til it was smooth and ready for grass seed.
