Tonight I was blessed to spend some time with a dear friend. We made last minute plans to go and see "The Vow" in the theater. Has anyone else seen that movie? I'm still deciding if I liked it or not...it held my attention while I was watching it, but now that I'm home and have had time to think back through the whole movie, I'm not sure it's gonna make my top 10 list. It was good, don't get me wrong! Just felt like it should've been longer and developed a few more things a little further...and changed the ending. Watch it. See what you think. ;)
I have also been telling everyone I know about a book called, "I Will Carry You" by Angie Smith. If you know anyone who has ever lost a baby whether it was a month into a pregnancy or 2 years after the baby was born, I would highly suggest this book. I read it simply because the author is the wife of one of the singers in a Christian group I like called "Selah," and I just thought it looked interesting. After bawling my way through the book, I realized that I know a LOT of people who have lost babies over the years. And being a NICU nurse, I have seen my share of infants who have left this earth way too soon. I feel like Angie gives an incredibly honest account of her personal experience with losing an infant. It's never easy no matter what the situation, but Angie's theme throughout the book is the faithfulness of God. At times it seemed overwhelming for her and her family, but they never gave up hope and always trusted God to have the final word in this situation. The whole thing was just an incredible testimony. Read it. See what you think. ;)
In light of the book that his wife authored, Todd Smith co-wrote a song with the same title as the book and his group, "Selah," recorded it. Warning...it will most likely make you cry. Especially if you've ever lost a baby or walked through that experience with someone close to you. It's a beautiful song and even though it makes me cry, I still listen to it and remember some of the mommies that I am blessed to know who have been down that road. Listen to it. See what you think. ;)
