Number 5

5)  Have a campfire with smore's at least every other week. I am in love with smores.  If I could eat one every day, I would.  (And actually, thanks to Little Debbie and my good friend, Lindsey, I HAVE eaten a smore nearly every day this week!!)  That's why one of my goals for the summer was to have a campfire and eat smores every other week.  I've actually been able to pretty much keep up with this goal throughout the summer, surprisingly enough!  Between campfires at my parent's place with my nieces and nephews and a few in my own backyard, I've had at least a dozen smores so far this summer.  :)  Tonight after a little bit of time spent playing on the swing set, we had a campfire at mom and dad's house with Cooper, Luke, and Ruthie and we practiced our smore-making skills.  The little ones are catching on, but they don't like the heat and smoke in their faces...they'll get the hang of it.  :)

Number 2

2)  Attend the free local concerts in the park as often as I can. This pic is a little hard to see, but look REAL closely and you will see someone resembling Kenny Chesney on stage!  :)  Haha...okay, not really.  But it IS a picture of an outdoor concert my Mom and I went to last week in the park.  The band was called Lincoln Way and they sang lots of country songs that we love.  It was a perfect evening to sit outside and enjoy some music and a hot summer night.  Love it!!  :)

Number 12

My summer list is slowly, but surely being checked off!  I've been having a ball enjoying all the small pleasures of summer.  A few weekends ago, I was able to check off number 12 from my list. 12) Visit my friends that live far away. We didn't have much time, but we made the most of what we had.  We spent hours and hours talking and catching up on life.  It was wonderful to see the girls and hear about all that's been going on in their lives.  We even got to see Amy's beautiful little girls, Elliana and Avalyn.  Unfortunately, though my camera was in my bag the whole time, I never once took it out to take a picture.  :(  So all we have are memories of our weekend getaway.  And those are enough.

Blueberries

I've been wanting to put up some blueberries this summer so I can enjoy them all winter long all baked up in warm blueberry muffins.  I started out ambitious...I'll go pick blueberries at the orchard with my sister and her kids and it will be an enjoyable experience for all.  Then it rained for 40 days straight.  New plan...I'll go pick blueberries at a nearby farm by myself and get them finished up in one day.  Then it got really really hot and I lost motivation.  Realistic plan...go to the air-conditioned grocery store where they have pre-picked 5lb boxes of blueberries all ready to go.  Excellent plan!  :)

Pizza Pocket Pandemonium!

Note:  This post was written on Tuesday, but is only now being posted because my goofy computer decided it didn't feel like working on Tuesday night.  Sigh.  But my dear friend, Brian Steiner, saved the day and coaxed my computer back into working condition.  Thank you, Brian!!! It's a regular old Tuesday night in July.  The humidity is up.  The rain is pouring down.  And I'm looking for a bit of excitement!  I thought through the possibilities of things to do...scrapbook pictures from vacation...wash my car in the rain...scrub the nasty calcium and lime buildup off of the bathroom tub.  Sigh...but none of those suited a TUESDAY night.  Those are more FRIDAY night activities.  ;)  Then I thought, what could be more fun than spending an evening with the most fun cousins in the world?!?!?  Let's have a pizza and movie night!!  :) So Traci, Kaitlyn, Courtney, and Kent all came over to my place for the evening.  And we made the most gigantic pizza pockets I think I'

Independence Day

I've never had the privilege of going to the annual 4th of July parade in our town.  But this year, I just happened to have the night off work and the weather was PERFECT so I joined my sisters and my nieces and camped out on the side of the road in Orrville for the parade.  Watching my nieces get so excited about all the sights and sounds of the parade (and all the CANDY) was so much fun!  I loved getting to share that experience with Ruthie and Lily and my sisters, too!  Maybe this will become a yearly tradition for us?!?  :) Is this parade EVER gonna start?!?! I hear the sirens! Those fire trucks are SOOOO loud! Hey, hey, hey!  There are some good-lookin' ladies!  :) Ruthie and Tammy Lily and Teri

Another 5K

Last Friday night, my sister-in-law and my cousin's wife and I went to Jackson to walk a 5K at night!  It was SO much fun!!  We were decked out in our glow-wear and we walked as fast as we could through the streets of Jackson that were all lit up with glow sticks the whole way.  It was a really cool race...one that I'd love to do again next year!   Mel and Michele ready to rock this race!        We walked our fastest and Michele and I ended up taking second and third place in our age group!  :)  We were proud of our medals, lol. Way to walk!  :)
