Sugar Scrubs and Homemade Chapstick

A few months ago, one of my friends from work suggested we get together to have a "crafting day."  Angela wanted to try making sugar scrubs and lip gloss and then create adorable decorations for our jars and pots of gloss using our new cricut machines!  So we gathered up all of our supplies and got to work.  Unfortunately, we couldn't find cute jars to use for our sugar scrubs...and we ran out of time to make cute things with our cricuts...and the lip gloss didn't turn out very good.  Kind of a bust.  But...it got my wheels a turnin' and I've been searching out good sugar scrub and lip gloss recipes ever since!  After hours of searching on pinterest , I found some recipes that looked like they were worth a shot.  I finally got the chance to try them this past week and had GREAT results!  I was even able to find cute glass jars to use at Hobby Lobby .  Anyway, with the help of a few awesome blogs, here are my results: I can't take credit for the label...i

A Thankful Heart

I was going to go shopping today.  I had big plans to use my JCPenney coupon to buy a cute new bag to take along on vacation next week.  And then I was going to wander through the mall for an hour or so and see what deals were screaming my name.  Sigh.  I should know by now NOT to plan on fun things happening on my days off. Needless to say, today did not go as planned.  Not in the least.  It started with 4 hours of poor sleep, followed by a trip to the doctor, a 3 hour nap, unbearable pain, and a trip to the ER.  It was a long day for sure.  But at the end of this long day, I can say that I am thankful...for lots of things, but 3 things in particular... 1)  For the cheerful faces and friendly folks at the doctor's office and ER.  I really can't complain...they all seemed to actually like their jobs.  :) 2)  For my Mom who dropped everything, sat with me for 5 hours and listened to me ramble on and on about silly things all afternoon while we waited and waited and waited

January!

I have a new favorite hobby.  It's called Pinterest .  I love Pinterest.  I find fun new ideas for crafts to try.  (See the last post.)  I find all kinds of new recipes to try.  (Christmas was one big experiment...SO many delicious new things to make!!)  I find inspiration for cute outfits to wear.  (Although, I haven't gone out and purchased any of the fun new outfits yet...waiting for sales...)  I find tons of ideas for a bigger, better house should we ever decide to leave our current shoebox and actually make those ideas a reality.  I find crafts for kids (even though I don't have any of my own yet).  I find DIY recipes for COOL things (like homemade laundry detergent, which I'm planning on making tomorrow).  I even find funny quotes that make me laugh when I'm having a bad day.  If you haven't joined Pinterest, you should.  :) Today I decided to try a recipe that my husband found on Pinterest the other day.  They're called No-Bake Energy Bites...and th
